We work with some incredibly brilliant and talented people at Paperny Films, who are currently up to some pretty exciting things. We love to celebrate in their successes and share them with others. These past two months have certainly given us a few moments to cheer them on and shout their achievements from the rooftops. Specifically, we'd like to take a moment to shine a spotlight on one of our Advisory Board Members, Dr. Daniel Shapiro, and on our Dussault, Inc. Series Director, Ziad Touma.

Dr. Daniel Shapiro is the Dean of the new SFU Beedie School of Business. Before our last Advisory Board Meeting, Daniel was furiously fielding calls and sending emails. You see, it was the eve of the announcement that Ryan Beedie and his father, Keith Beedie, had donated $22 million to the university, the school's largest donation ever, and the money is targeted for the business faculty, which will be renamed the Beedie School of Business.
SFU will use the donation for an endowment to support students, professorships and research chairs.
Daniel commented to the Vancouver Sun that the money will help make the school a global thought leader in such areas as innovation and entrepreneurship, Asian-Pacific business studies, risk management and sustainability.
"Our intention is to create the next generation of business and community leaders," Shapiro said.
Congratulations to Daniel and SFU, and to the generous Beedie family in developing new business thinkers here in Canada.

In other news, Ziad Touma is a part of a film that has been nominated for an Oscar! Incendies, a film that Ziad is an Associate Producer on, has been nominated for Best Foreign Language Film.
An adaptation of Wajdi Mouawad’s hit play, Incendies is a deeply moving story that brings the extremism and violence of today’s world to a starkly personal level, delivering a powerful and poetic testament to the uncanny power of the will to survive.
The gang at Paperny went out to watch Incendies recently to celebrate with Ziad. We loved it!
“An incredibly compelling story. A must see film.” ~ Cecile Peyret
Congratulations Ziad and to the rest of the cast and crew on Incendies! You make Canada proud! We shall be cheering you on on Sunday night!
